2026 marks the inaugural year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, which outlines 109 major projects across six key areas, including an initiative to rebuild the foundational infrastructure of the industrial machine tool sector. From April 21 to 25, the 14th China CNC Machine Tool Exhibition (CCMT2026) will be held at the Shanghai Pudong New International Expo Center. This year’s theme is “Digitalization, Connectivity, and Intelligent Manufacturing,” highlighting cutting-edge technological advancements and deeper industry transformation in the machine tool sector. The event aims to enable participants to experience firsthand the immense productivity of intelligent manufacturing while gaining a clear understanding of future trends and directions in this field. This year’s largest machine tool exhibition in Asia features five major highlights. “Some people joke that if you can’t showcase even a single five-axis machine tool, you might as well not bother exhibiting,” said Wang Liming, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Machine Tool Industry Association, during a briefing in Shanghai on March 24. According to current exhibitor registration data, this year’s show will feature 441 five-axis machine tools, accounting for 36.8% of all machine tool exhibits. Among these, 235 are five-axis machining centers, representing 54% of all machining center exhibits. Compared with CCMT2024, both the number and share of five-axis machining centers have increased by 35.8% and 10.2%, respectively. Moreover, their share has grown by 8.9% compared to the previous China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT2025), underscoring an overall improvement in the comprehensive performance of the machine tools on display.
